Ranchi: The families of the policemen martyred in the Naxal operation have received compensation. On Thursday, at the Jharkhand Police Headquarters, the DGP provided Rs 25 lakh and Rs 15 lakh as insurance to the families of Sub Inspector Amit Tiwari and Constable Gautam Kumar, who were martyred in an encounter with Naxalites on August 14 in Chaibasa district.
About 66 thousand policemen, from fourth-grade employees to DGP, will get the benefit of free insurance of Rs 50 to 60 lakh from the State Bank of India. Policemen will get this benefit without paying any premium. Regarding this, an MOU was signed between Jharkhand Police and SBI (State Bank of India) on 22nd August.
Jharkhand DGP Ajay Kumar Singh said that a decisive fight is going on in Jharkhand against Naxalites. Our soldiers and officers are participating in this fight without any fear. In which they even have to sacrifice their lives.
The police headquarters always stands with the families of the martyrs. Earlier, an amount of Rs 1.78 crore has been provided to the family of martyr Amit Tiwari and Rs 1.68 crore has been provided to the family of Gautam.
