CM Soren pays tribute to Jharkhand movement activist Kapoor Kumar Tudu

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren visited the ancestral residence of late Jharkhand movement activist and social worker Kapoor Kumar Tudu (popularly known as Kapoor Bagi Ji) in Chilgu-Chakulia, under Chandil block of Seraikela-Kharsawan district, to pay his last respects. The Chief Minister laid a wreath on the mortal remains and offered heartfelt tributes.

He met the grieving family members, consoled them, and prayed to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss. The Chief Minister also attended the funeral procession and the last rites ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Soren said, “With the demise of Kapoor Tudu Ji, I have lost a brother, a friend, and a fellow movement activist. This is not just a personal loss but a significant loss for the entire state. Kapoor Tudu Ji was deeply involved in the Jharkhand statehood movement and dedicated his life to serving the common people. His simple nature and commitment to social welfare made him a respected figure.”

Kapoor Kumar Tudu passed away on May 6, 2025. He was a cousin (maternal uncle’s son) of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He is survived by his mother Smt. Sukhi Tudu, wife Smt. Sukurmani Tudu, two sons, and a daughter. Known for his humility and simplicity, Tudu Ji was widely respected for his lifelong dedication to social causes and service to the underprivileged.
