CM Soren announces ‘Mukhyamantri Aapke Dwar’ at village level, slams BJP’s 17-yr rule

Hazaribagh: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced that the state government will now take its flagship outreach programme, ‘Mukhyamantri Aapke Dwar’, to every village after successful implementation at district and block levels. Government officials from district to panchayat levels will participate in these public grievance redressal camps.

Addressing a massive gathering during the 46th Foundation Day celebration of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Hazaribagh on Friday, the Chief Minister attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed that had the party not used agencies to send him to jail during the Lok Sabha election period, the BJP would have struggled to win seats in the Lok Sabha just like in the state Assembly. He said that BJP is only indulging in Hindu-Muslim politics, while his government is working for people’s welfare.

Criticising the BJP’s 17-year rule in Jharkhand, Soren said the state suffered under widespread hunger, unemployment, migration and corruption during that time. “People uprooted the BJP government in 2019, and again in 2024. In the coming days too, they won’t be able to regain power in the state,” he asserted.

Remembering the sacrifices made during the Jharkhand movement, the CM paid homage to his father Shibu Soren, as well as to the late Binod Bihari Mahato and Nirmal Mahato. He said the creation of Jharkhand was result of over 40 years of struggle that claimed many lives and shattered many families. “Now, it’s time for development,” he declared.

Soren accused the BJP of causing only destruction during its 17-year regime and alleged that natural resources were plundered under its governance. Targeting the Centre, he said that despite the state possessing 40% of the country’s mineral wealth, the indigenous people are forced to migrate for jobs, while outsiders rule over them. Referring to the Mukhyamantri Maaiyan Yojana, he urged people to shoo away anyone asking for bribes under the scheme. He also issued a warning about rising cyber fraud, urging people not to fall for scams that promise to double their money. “Use government aid for the welfare of your families, agriculture, and improving economic conditions,” he advised. On the issue of pension delays, the CM warned that any government employee found negligent would lose their job.

Reassuring the people of Jharkhand, Soren said, “Your state is in safe hands—those of its indigenous and tribal citizens.” Referring indirectly to the Siramtoli incident in Ranchi, he warned against falling into the trap of tribal people who have become agents of outsiders.

The event also saw speeches by ministers Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Yogendra Mahato, general secretary Vinod Pandey, Fagu Besra and other senior JMM leaders, who collectively displayed the party’s strength and solidarity.
