CM-led board nod to release of 30 prisoners

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a meeting of Jharkhand State Sentence Review Board at the Jharkhand Secretariat. The meeting reviewed cases of 67 prisoners whose release had been rejected in the last two meetings of the Jharkhand State Sentence Review Board.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Soren engaged in detailed discussions with officials regarding the release of 67 prisoners serving life sentences in various state jails, based on the recommendations of the Sentence Review Board. The review involved consultations with courts, district police superintendents, jail superintendents, and probation officers. After comprehensive deliberations, the Chief Minister approved the release of 30 prisoners.

Those present at the meeting included Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, Nalin Kumar, Principal Secretary and Legal Advisor (Justice) Department, Vandana Dadel, Principal Secretary of Home, Prison, and Disaster Management Department, Diwakar Pandey, Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi, Anurag Gupta, Director General and Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand, Sudarshan Prasad Mandal, Inspector General of Prisons, Jharkhand slong with other officials.
