CM holds department wise review of budgetary expenditure, directs to make sure revenue collection is not impacted

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday held a high level review meeting of the budgetary expenditure made by the departments and directed the officials to identify key focus areas for the budget 2022-23.

The Chief Minister said that due to Coronavirus work has been impacted and some departments have seen the hit but now there is a need to make preparations for the budget of 2022-23. He said that this time around the focus of the government is to increase the resources and also the expenditure.

Hemant Soren said that for beneficiary oriented scheme these is a need for funds for the state government and therefore the revenue department should work in a better manner. He said that such a system should be developed that revenue is not impacted.

The Chief Minister said that under the state plan the government does many work however on many instances it has been seen that benefits of the scheme is not reaching to the correct target. He asked the officials to make sure that right from the work of plantation to small and big construction work are photographed and their Geo tagging is done. He said that there is a plan to start the student credit card scheme so that the children to not face any problem in their studies.

He asked them to provide all the details regarding the construction of hostels for the students and construction of model schools. He said that during the pandemic due to the closure of the schools children hailing from the rural areas have been most impacted and a gap has come in their education which needed to be addressed. He directed that construction of women colleges should be completed soon and renovation work should be undertaken in the ongoing women colleges of the state.

The Chief Minister said that there is a need for the rural works department and road construction department to work in coordination over the construction of roads and especially directed to maintain quality in construction of the rural roads. He said that apart from construction of good quality roads, renovation work of poor roads should be done and for the construction of the roads long, mid and short term plans should be made. He asked the officials to make sure that beautification work in the cities is done in a planned manner and also suggested that some areas in the city should be declared as safe zones. Further he said that the department concerned should work to rectify the non functional CCTVs.

The Chief Minister said that the entire world has moved towards solar power and there is a need to work upon this in Jharkhand also. He said that on a small level work can be started in this area. He said that in irrigation in a small scale this is being used and now focus needed to be on minor irrigation which he exuded confidence that can yield better results.

Those present in the meeting also included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Singh and other senior officials.
