CM asks officials to work for eradication of malnutrition and witchcraft from state

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that saving the children from malnutrition was a priority for the state government and instructed the officials to work with dedication to save the children from malnutrition.

Reviewing the functioning of the women, child development and social security department here he said that children in Anganwadi centers should get quality food. He said that for ensuring the physical and mental growth of the children all the schemes for their well-being should be properly implemented.

He asked the officials to conduct a survey of malnourished children and women gripped with anemia and prepare a database for them. He said that at Anganwadi centers egg should be provided to children and the children those are vegetarians they should be given season fruits. Further the pregnant women and lactating mothers should be given nutritious food and take home ration and hot meal distribution system should be strongly implemented.

The Chief Minister said that women should get the benefits of Pradhanmantri Maatritwa Vandana Yojana. He also directed the officials to speed up Poshan Abhiyaan Yojana.

He asked the officials to create awareness regarding the Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana especially among the families which are in the BPL category and asked to prepare data of girls who are in this category.

Hemant Soren asked the officials to focus more on the eradication of witchcraft and instructed to do a survey of areas where such incidents have taken in the last 19 years and directed to spread awareness in those areas.

He also reviewed the progress in the execution of various other schemes of the department during which Women and Child Development Minister Joba Manjhi, Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh and other officials of the department concerned were present.
