CISF lathi charge in Dhanbad, protesting shopkeepers chased away

Dhanbad:  CISF has lathi charged shopkeepers in Dhanbad. There is news of stones being pelted at soldiers also. Shopkeepers were protesting in Nirsa under the leadership of former MLA Arup Chatterjee. This protest was going on against the notice given to vacate shops in DVC area. There has been stone pelting from the shopkeepers. After which the CISF jawans resorted to lathi charge. About half a dozen shopkeepers are reported to have been injured in the lathi charge. The situation at the spot is still tense.

Former MLA Arup Chatterjee said that we were protesting on one side. Suddenly the administration resorted to lathi charge. When shopkeepers got injured, stones were thrown from here. The soldiers also broke the bikes of the protesting people. We have been trying to negotiate for 3 months, but there is no initiative from the management.

Many people have been injured in lathi charge and stone pelting. Two people are admitted to the hospital. The protest will continue until we get justice.
