Ranchi: The bail plea of former Ranchi DC and suspended IAS Chhavi Ranjan, accused of wrongly buying and selling one acre of land on Cheshire Home Road in Bariatu, was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Friday.
During this time, a request was made by ED to give time for arguments, which was accepted by the court of High Court judge Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and fixed the date of April 19 for the next hearing. Advocates Inderjit Sinha and Abhishek Chaudhary argued on behalf of Chhavi Ranjan. Additional Solicitor General Anil Kumar argued on behalf of ED.
This case is related to ED case number ECIR 5/2023. At present Chhavi Ranjan is in judicial custody. Jharkhand High Court has earlier rejected the bail plea of Chhavi Ranjan in another case related to money laundering.
