Chatra : Chatra Police is continuously making efforts towards making the district drug free. In this sequence, the police destroyed opium cultivation in 40 acres.
On Sunday, on the instructions of SP Rakesh Ranjan, a special team formed for opium destruction under the leadership of Sadar SDPO destroyed the illegal poppy cultivation in Heth Berio, Berio, Gamhartari and Narayantari areas (20 acres).
Chatra police also destroyed poppy cultivation on about 20 acres in other police station areas.
This campaign of Chatra Police will continue until Chatra district is completely made opium free.
On February 7, Naxalite organization TPC ambushed the police force returning after destroying poppy (opium) cultivation in the forest near Berio of Sadar police station area.
Two soldiers were martyred in this Naxalite attack.
In this incident, the nexus between Naxalite organization TPC and criminals involved in illegal opium poppy cultivation cannot be ruled out.
