Ranchi: Challans worth Rs 14.50 crore have been issued in the capital Ranchi in 11 months of 2023. In this, from the month of January to November, a total of 1 lakh 81 thousand challans were issued by the traffic police. The total amount of fine in a year increased to Rs 14 crore 52 lakh 45 thousand. Out of which only Rs 2 crore has been recovered in one year. The remaining money has not been recovered.
A total of 1 lakh 81 thousand 702 challans were issued from January to November. Out of which only 24 thousand 900 challans were disposed, while 1 lakh 56 thousand 802 challans are still pending. People who have been fined do not even know that they have been issued a traffic challan. Because most of the traffic challans have neither been sent to them nor have they been reminded by sending messages on their mobiles.
On this matter, Traffic SP Kumar Gaurav said that traffic challans have increased this year. The main reason for this is the automatic cameras installed at the intersections. Continuous awareness campaigns are being run regarding traffic rules.
In the coming days, people will become more aware and there will be a reduction in traffic challans. In the month of January 2023, a total of 10 thousand 331 challans were issued for violation of traffic rules. Out of which only 2 thousand 282 were disposed off. In the month of February, 9 thousand 488 challans were issued.
