Celsius touches 45 degrees at Godda, IMD forecasts heat wave on Thursday

Ranchi: The maximum temperature has reached nearly 45 degrees Celsius with Godda district in Santhal Pargana recording a maximum temperature of 44.9 degrees.

As per Meteorological records, the day’s temperature crossed 43 degrees Celsius mark at several places including Daltonganj and Deoghar. 

Jamshedpur and Garhwa too recorded close to 43 degree Celsius while Chaibasa in West Singhbhum, Ramgarh, and Simdega recorded around 42 degrees Celsius in the past 24 – hours. 

Meteorological statistics revealed that the night readings in most places across the state recorded two to three notches above normal.

Weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre said that no significant synoptic condition prevails over Jharkhand.

A Western Disturbance is seen as a trough between 3.1 Km and 5.8 Km above mean sea level with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Longitude 64 east to the north of Latitude 21 degrees north.

Dry weather coupled with heat waves prevailed at isolated places over the state. The season’s highest maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees was recorded at Godda while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.2 degrees was recorded at Garhwa.

The Meteorological department issued an alert of heat waves on Thursday too. It also issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors to avoid sunstroke and Loo, a dry and hot wind that blows in the plains during this time of the season.
