Cattle smuggling: Giridih police arrested 19 people and rescued 115 animals

Giridih/Ranchi: Sariya Police of Giridih district has got a big success in cattle smuggling. Police have seized ten vehicles loaded with animals late on Monday night. 115 animals were being taken out by these vehicles. 19 associates including the driver and co-driver of the vehicle have been taken into custody for questioning. The animals seized include milch cows, buffaloes and calves. Sariya police station in charge Anish Pandey told that all the cattle seized from the vehicles were going towards Bihar.

The animals were forcibly stuffed into 5 trucks and 5 pickup vans. This is illegal smuggling as no one had papers regarding carrying the animals. Police interrogated 19 people including drivers and associates of all the vehicles in custody. The police is assuming that there was a preparation to sell these animals by taking them to Bengal via Bihar.

There were buffaloes on 5 trucks and cows were kept on 5 pickup vans. All the animals have been sent to Giridih Gaushala. There has been a huge amount of cattle smuggling from these areas, this is a big success in the hands of the police.

Sariya police has taken such a big action after 5 years. 5 years ago the police caught a large number of animals being smuggled. Deepak Sharma, the present SP of Giridih, was the SDPO of Sariya at that time, under whose leadership the raid was conducted.
