Bokaro’s Sameer’s death case in Coimbatore, zero FIR in Ranchi, protest in front of Raj Bhawan

Ranchi: In connection with the death of Bokaro’s Sameer Kumar in Coimbatore, the relatives have lodged a zero FIR at the Kotwali police station in Ranchi. Sameer Kumar, who was an assistant professor at Rakshashakti University, Ranchi, died under suspicious circumstances at Karunya Institute of Technology and Science, Coimbatore.

Sameer, 28, had joined Coimbatore after resigning from Ranchi. Family members allege that he was murdered there. Sameer talked to his family members till late night of 4th September. After this, on September 5, the institute called and told that Sameer had committed suicide.

On Thursday, near Raj Bhavan, Sameer’s family members and students of Rakshashakti University protested keeping Sameer’s dead body. They are demanding justice. Police administration reached the spot and talked to the family members. During this, a large number of people including Ranchi MLA CP Singh, Gomia MLA Dr Lambodar Mahato, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth were present.

Sameer’s relatives say that he has been murdered. Sameer’s sister Akanksha is a professor at Ranchi Rakshashakti University. He told that Sameer was a professor in Rakshashakti University. Leaving here, he joined Karunya Institute of Technology and Science, Coimbatore. During the conversation, he told that everything is not right here. One of the many hostels in the campus was made a hostel warden. Although he had refused for this.

Meanwhile, on September 4, he had a conversation with his mother Malti Nayak. Sister Akanksha told that Sameer had told at home that he is forbidden to apply Tika-Chandan here. He had also told that ganja and other intoxicants are consumed by the students in the hostels of the institute. The sister says that either because of Tika-Chandan or because she saw the students doing something in the hostel, she killed him and gave it the name of suicide.

Sameer, son of social worker Vivekananda Nayak, resident of Dantu in Bokaro district, had joined Karunya Institute of Technology and Science in Coimbatore on 14 August. Before here he worked as an Assistant Professor in Jharkhand Rakshashakti University. He had told his family to come home for Durga Puja. One of his brothers Praveer Kumar lives in Mumbai. After hearing the news of Sameer’s death, he had reached Coimbatore straight from Mumbai.

During the conversation at Raj Bhavan, the family members have raised doubts on the role of HOD in this matter. Said that Sameer was appointed as Assistant Professor. He has been forced to join the warden. Gomia MLA Lambodar Mahato, who was present at Raj Bhavan, said that the institute and the district administration there are calling it suicide whereas it is complete murder. In the photo and video that has surfaced, his feet are in the ground.

He was killed and given the form of murder. Our demand is that the postmortem of the deceased should be conducted again. Medical Board should be constituted. There should be a CBI inquiry into this murder. The attitude of the state government, district administration and the institute there is biased. Jharkhand government should take it seriously and conduct a CBI inquiry.
