Block Supply Officer caught while taking bribe

Ranchi: In a swift operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Abhijeet Chail, the Block Supply Officer of Tamad, for accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The officer had been extorting money from Public Distribution System (PDS) shopkeepers in the region.

According to the details, Dhananjay Sahu, a PDS shopkeeper from the Tamad police station area, lodged a written complaint with the ACB. In the complaint, Dhananjay revealed that he had been running a government PDS shop in the village of Paitrikgaon Parsa since 1989. He alleged that Abhijeet Chail, who is currently the Block Supply Officer, was demanding a monthly bribe of ₹3,000 from local PDS shopkeepers.

Dhananjay further mentioned that on March 8, Chail had visited his shop and demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 for the continued operation of the PDS shop. Acting promptly on the complaint, the ACB launched an investigation.

The inquiry confirmed that the bribe was indeed being extorted. On March 18, the ACB team apprehended Abhijeet Chail while he was accepting ₹10,000 in cash and arrested him on the spot.
