Baby Born on a Bus in Torrential Rain: A Night of Bravery and Humanity in Jharkhand

Koderma – On a stormy night in Jharkhand’s Koderma, a passenger bus became the scene of an extraordinary act of bravery and compassion. A young woman gave birth inside the bus, transforming it into a makeshift delivery room with the help of strangers, police, and a dedicated doctor.

The incident unfolded around midnight aboard the ‘Shri Sai’ passenger bus when Radha Devi, 20, from Vaishali (Bihar), went into unexpected labor. She was traveling to Ranchi with her husband Suraj Ram, her mother, and sister, with her due date still days away.

As the bus navigated Koderma in pouring rain, there were no hospitals nearby, and heavy downpours made evacuation impossible. With her condition deteriorating, urgency filled the air.

Sensing the gravity, the bus driver steered towards a nearby PCR van. Policeman Om Prakash and his team immediately began searching for a doctor, eventually finding Dr. Praveen Kumar from Aryan Hospital after visiting multiple facilities.

Dr. Kumar reached the scene and decided the safest option was to deliver the baby right there on the bus. As passengers stepped out into the rain to give space, a delivery room was created under the most unlikely circumstances.

At 2:40 a.m., Radha gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and the cries of the newborn were met with applause and emotional celebration.

Both mother and child were later shifted to Aryan Hospital and discharged the next day in good health.

What might have ended in despair turned into a powerful story of resilience, teamwork, and the human spirit shining through in the darkest of hours.
