Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday expressed strong displeasure over the Justice Vikramaditya Committee report not being presented during the hearing, and also directed to present the report by the next hearing.
A hearing was held in the High Court on a PIL filed demanding an investigation into illegal appointments in the Jharkhand Assembly. The court has orally said that if the report is not presented till the next hearing, contempt proceedings will be initiated against the Assembly Secretary. The court has fixed next Thursday for the next hearing on this PIL.
Shiv Shankar Sharma as filed a public interest litigation in this matter. It has been said in the petition that there were irregularities in the appointments made in the Assembly between 2005 and 2007. Justice Vikramaditya Prasad Commission was first formed to investigate the matter.
The commission had also investigated and submitted a report to the Governor in the year 2018. After which the Governor directed the Assembly Speaker to take action. But no action has been taken yet. The case was heard in the division bench of High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen.
