Army Thwarts Infiltration Attempt Along LoC in Poonch Sector

Jammu- Alert Army personnel on Wednesday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bhimber Gali sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps said in a statement that acting on credible intelligence inputs and sustained surveillance, suspicious movement of terrorists was detected in the Bhimber Gali area along the LoC in the early hours of March 4, 2026. Swift and decisive action by troops successfully prevented the infiltration attempt, ensuring that there was no breach of the LoC.

The statement added that the hostile plan was effectively neutralised through coordinated ground operations.

“Our troops have been repositioned to maintain complete domination of the area, backed by integrated ground and aerial surveillance. A strong operational posture and heightened alert continue across the sector. The wall stands vigilant — every infiltration attempt will be foiled,” it said.

Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km-long LoC and a 240-km-long International Border.

The LoC passes through Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in the Kashmir Valley, and through Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Jammu district in the Jammu division. The International Border lies in the Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts of the Jammu division.

The Indian Army guards the LoC, while the Border Security Force (BSF) secures the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, cross-border smuggling and drone activity from across the Pakistan side.

In recent years, drones have been used to drop arms, ammunition, narcotics and cash intended for terrorist groups.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security forces, regularly conduct operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers.

Security agencies are also keeping a close watch on drug smugglers, peddlers and those involved in hawala networks, as funds generated through such illegal activities are believed to be used to sustain terrorism in the Union Territory.
