Armed miscreants loot Rs 40 lakh from driver of Potato merchant in Dumka

Dumka: Armed miscreants travelling in a car looted amount worth nearly Rs 40 lakh from the driver of a wholesale potato merchant near Dhajapada village under Massanjore Police Station area of this district on Tuesday.

Dumka SP Ambar Lakra confirmed the incident of loot however he said that amount of loot would be only confirmed after a thorough probe.

Police sources said that upon receiving information potato traders Kedar Bhagat and Uttam Bhagat hailing from Sainthiya of West Bengal reached Dumka and registered the complaint. Kedar said that he was into the wholesale potato business and the vegetable was supplied in Deoghar, Dumka and other districts.

He said that like earlier days his driver and cleaner of the truck were returning after collecting money from the traders were returning to Sainthiya when the looted was executed. Police has sealed the bordering areas and was conducting search to nab the ultras.
