Area commander of CPI Maoists surrenders before Jharkhand Police

Chatra: An area commander of the CPI Maoists on Wednesday surrendered before the police authorities. Area commander Kamlesh Yadav surrendered in a function organised at the collectorate here in which Chatra DC Abu Imran, SP Rakesh Ranjan and Commandant of CRPF’s 190 battalion Manoj Kumar were also present.

As part of the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government, he along with his wife were given a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh and were also assured other benefits as part of the surrender policy of the state government.

The officials of the district administration also urge the other Maoists to give up their arms and join the mainstream of life or else they should be ready to face severe police action. 

Kamlesh Yadav joined the ranks of the Maoists in the year 2014. He was also in the squad led by top leaders of the Maoists including Arvind Bhuiyaan, Manohar Ganjhu, etc.

Recently he was also involved in a gun battle with the police personnel which had taken place a month earlier under the Pratappur Police Station area in which a jawan of the CRPF had got martyred. More than a dozen cases are registered against the area commander in separate police stations of Chatra Latehar and Palamu districts.
