Ranchi: The long-vacant posts of Vice-Chancellor for Sidho Kanhu University and Vinoba Bhave University are expected to be filled soon. The Raj Bhavan has scheduled interviews for the selection of Vice-Chancellors for these two key universities. According to official information, interviews for both universities will take place on May 3 and 4. A total of 23 academics have been shortlisted for the interviews, with more than half of them from outside the state.
Sidho Kanhu University in Dumka and Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh have been without a Vice-Chancellor for the past two years. The term of Prof. Sona Jharia Minj, the Vice-Chancellor of Sidho Kanhu University, ended on June 8, 2023. Since then, Dr. Vimal Prasad Singh, the university’s pro-Vice-Chancellor, has been holding the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor. Similarly, after Dr. Mukul Narayan Dev’s term ended on May 31, 2023, the post of Vice-Chancellor for Vinoba Bhave University has remained vacant, with Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Nilamber Pitamber University, handling the additional charge.
Meanwhile, the posts of Vice-Chancellor for Ranchi University, DSPU, and Jharkhand Open University will also be vacant soon. The term of Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University, and Dr. Tapan Kumar Shandilya, Vice-Chancellor of DSPU, will end in June 2025. The term for the Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand Open University will end in July 2025. However, applications for these positions have not been invited yet.
