Amendment in CNT and SPT acts are injustice with people : Nitish Kumar

Ranchi, May 17: Bihar Chief Minister and national president of the JD(U) Nitish Kumar said that he was surprised that a non tribal was selected to become the Chief Minister of the state after the assembly polls of 2014.

 

Mr Kumar while addressing a rally at Morabadi grounds  organised by ‘Adivasi Sengel Abhiyaan’ against the amednments in the CNT/SPT Acts said that however there is no such provision in the law that only a tribal should become the Chief Min

 

ister. “But when a non tribal had to be made the Chief Minister than why was a separate state of Jharkhand formed,” he said.

 

Nitish Kumar said that he does not have any ill feelings or conflicts with the present Chief Minister. He said that he also had supported the demand of a separate state of Jharkhand but now it appears that deliberate attempts are being made to change the identity of the state. He said that deliberately changes have been made in the Chottanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Acts, both of them are related with the security of the tribals.

The Bihar Chief Minister said that after the struggle and martyrs doom of Tilkamanjhi, Sido-Kanhu, Sheikh Bikhari the Britishers framed these two acts. He said that he whole heartedly supported the fight against amendments in the CNT and SPT Acts. He said that a struggle based on non-violence always wins at the last and assured his commitment towards the fight for the cause of the tribals.

 

Raising the issue of liquor ban he said that a tremendous response was given by the people towards the decision of the Bihar government. He said that even the tribals do not want to consume liquor. Flaying the issue of revenue loss he said that all such talks were baseless and said that the liqour ban had been imposed for the good health of the people.

The rally was organised by convener of the Adivasi Sengal Abhiyaan and former MP Salkhan Murmu.
