Alleged Health Department Scam Sparks Political Storm in Jharkhand, Probe Demand Intensifies

Ranchi: Allegations of large-scale irregularities in Jharkhand’s Health Department have triggered a political row, with the opposition demanding an independent investigation into the matter. BJP MLA and Chief Whip Navin Jaiswal has accused the state government of serious financial misconduct and called for a fair probe by an external agency.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Jaiswal claimed that repeated instances of discrepancies have surfaced within the department. He referred to a communication reportedly sent by the Chief Secretary to the Health Secretary, seeking an inquiry into alleged irregularities—indicating the gravity of the issue.

Serious Allegations on Procurement Process
The BJP leader alleged that Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari facilitated contracts for close associates at inflated rates. According to him, products with relatively low market prices were procured at three to five times higher rates. He further claimed that multiple firms were registered under members of the same family to benefit from government tenders.

Questions Over Investigation Process
Raising concerns over transparency, Jaiswal criticized the decision to assign the जांच responsibility to the Health Secretary, calling it equivalent to “letting the accused investigate themselves.” He also expressed suspicion that purchases made through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal may be subject to manipulation or cover-ups.

Wider Financial Irregularities Alleged
The BJP MLA linked the issue to broader financial discrepancies, referring to alleged treasury-related irregularities reported across several districts. He described the situation as potentially more serious than past scams, alleging a pattern of misuse of public resources in various sectors.

Demand for Independent Probe
The BJP has urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to order an impartial investigation by an independent agency. The party has also demanded registration of FIRs against those involved and the immediate removal of the Health Minister pending inquiry.

The controversy continues to escalate, with mounting pressure on the state government to respond decisively and ensure transparency in the matter.
