Akshay and Sonika won Coal India’s marathon

Ranchi:  Akshay and Sonika won the full marathon in the 2nd Coal India Marathon of Central Coalfields Limited. Akshay, a resident of UP, reached the finish line in 2 hours 20 minutes and 38 seconds. Among women, Sonika of Haryana won the Coal India Marathon for the second consecutive time.

Last time also Sonika was the winner of the full marathon. About 8 thousand participants ran in different events in the marathon organized in Morhabadi, Ranchi on Sunday. More than 6100 male and 1400 female runners from different parts of the country participated.

More than 500 CCL guests also participated in this marathon. The marathon was flagged off by Indian Olympic Association President cum MP PT Usha. During this, CIL Chairman PM Prasad, CCL CMD Dr. B. Veera Reddy, CCL Director Personnel Harsh Nath Mishra and CCL officers and employees were present.

PT Usha said that she was happy to see the number of participants in the Coal India Marathon. More participants have the possibility of getting more talent. Talking about his time, he said that at that time there were no good facilities, no infrastructure, no massagers, and no nutritionists. Time, sportspersons are getting all the facilities, which is impacting their sports, they are performing well.
