Ranchi: Agriculture Minister Badal on Thursday directed the officials to make an assessment of the damage caused by brown planthopper insect which has attacked paddy crops in Deoghar, Godda and Dumka districts.
He directed the officials of the department to get in touch with the Kissan Mitras and panchayat level Agriculture officials and make an assessment of the losses suffered by the farmers so that adequate compensation can be paid to them.
The Minister said that a detailed review of the situation was made and it was directed to establish contact with the officials of the disaster management department.
He said that the Secretary of the department is sending a letter to all the DCs and also urged the elected representatives to help in making an assessment of the losses and give their suggestions to the farmers so that they can get adequate compensation.
