Adopted Daughter Among Three Arrested in Ranchi Woman’s Murder Case

Ranchi police on Wednesday revealed the truth behind the murder of Nahid Parveen in the Doranda police station area. According to officials, the woman was killed by her adopted daughter with the help of her boyfriend and his associates. Three accused have been arrested, while two others are still absconding.

As per the investigation, Nahid Parveen’s death on April 25 was initially presented as an accidental fall in the bathroom. During the pre-burial ritual bath, injury marks were noticed on her neck and body, but no suspicion was raised at the time, and the body was buried.

The case took a turn when police questioned the adopted daughter, leading to the revelation of the murder. Following this, a formal complaint was filed by the deceased’s brother-in-law, Mohammad Halim, at Doranda police station.

In the presence of a magistrate, the body was exhumed and sent for a postmortem examination by a medical board, which confirmed that it was a case of murder.

Investigations revealed that Nahid Parveen was a widowed pensioner. Her adopted daughter allegedly wanted to marry her boyfriend, Arbaaz Khan, and had been spending money on him—something the victim strongly opposed. This led to a dispute, and on the night of April 24, the accused reportedly smothered her with a pillow.

After committing the crime, the accused cleaned the house in an attempt to pass it off as an accident.

Police have arrested Arbaaz Khan, Sameer Khan, and a minor girl in connection with the case. Raids are underway to nab two other suspects. Blood-stained bedsheets and a pillow cover have also been recovered as evidence.
