Ranchi: The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal’s husband Abhishek Jha. There was a hearing in the Supreme Court on the bail plea. The hearing took place in the bench of Justices, Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia.
The court gave relief to Abhishek Jha, husband of suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal, who was jailed in MNREGA scam and money laundering case. The Supreme Court has not only granted anticipatory bail but has also immediately restrained them from taking any coercive action. Apart from this, the court has also imposed a condition on him along with anticipatory bail. The court has asked him to accept two conditions.
Under the first condition, Abhishek Jha will have to submit his passport to the trial court. On the other hand, under the second condition, will not contact the witnesses related to this case. On May 6, 2022, the Enforcement Directorate raided more than 20 locations of the then Mines and Industries Secretary Pooja Singhal and her close associates in the MNREGA scam and money laundering case. During the raid, over Rs 19 crore in cash was recovered from the residential office of Suman Kumar, CA of Pooja Singhal’s husband Abhishek Jha.
After various actions, Pooja Singhal was arrested on 11 May. On May 25, Pooja Singhal was sent to jail after questioning. Abhishek Jha was also accused in the money laundering case. Abhishek Jha had earlier filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court for anticipatory bail. But the High Court dismissed the petition after the hearing. After this, he filed a petition in the Supreme Court.
