RANCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a second summons to former Jharkhand minister and Lohardaga Congress MLA Rameshwar Oraon and his son, Rohit Oraon, directing them to appear for questioning at the agency’s zonal office on July 6 in connection with the alleged liquor tender case.
The two had earlier been asked to appear before the ED on Monday but did not attend the hearing. Instead, they sought three weeks’ time from the agency.
According to ED sources, investigators are examining certain financial transactions that came to light during the liquor tender probe. The agency is looking into whether any alleged financial dealings between Rohit Oraon and Jharkhand-based alleged power broker Prem Prakash have any connection with the ongoing investigation.
The ED is also scrutinising documents and digital evidence seized during searches conducted at Rohit Oraon’s premises. Based on its preliminary examination, the agency has decided to summon both father and son again for questioning.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no legal liability or wrongdoing has been established against either individual at this stage. Both Rameshwar Oraon and Rohit Oraon are expected to present their statements before the ED on July 6, after which the investigation may move forward based on the agency’s findings.
