Jharkhand Appoints 1,042 Assistant Teachers; CM Hemant Soren Calls Them Architects of the State’s Future

Ranchi: Hemant Soren on Monday handed over appointment letters to 1,042 newly recruited intermediate and graduate-trained assistant teachers, urging them to play a transformative role in strengthening the state’s education system and shaping the future of young learners.

The appointment letters were distributed during a ceremony at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Ranchi. Congratulating the new recruits, the Chief Minister said they had been entrusted with more than just government jobs—they had accepted the responsibility of nurturing future generations.

Addressing the gathering, Soren said teachers are instrumental in shaping children’s personalities and guiding society in the right direction. He acknowledged that questions are often raised about the quality of government schools and said the newly appointed teachers have a greater responsibility to restore public confidence through dedication, discipline and quality teaching.

Emphasising the importance of education, he described knowledge as the foundation of social progress and said an informed and empowered society can only be built through quality education.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister urged teachers to become the “eyes and ears” of the government, particularly in remote and rural areas, and work to spread education, awareness and social harmony.

Of the total appointments, 274 assistant teachers have been posted for Classes I to V, while 768 graduate-trained assistant teachers will teach students from Classes VI to VIII.

Among the graduate-trained teachers, 387 have been appointed in social science, 231 in mathematics and science, and 150 in language subjects.

District-wise, Palamu received the highest allocation with 123 teachers, followed by Giridih (92), Koderma (81), Sahibganj (63), West Singhbhum (61), Deoghar (59), Dumka (54), Godda (53) and Pakur (51).

Other districts include Dhanbad (42), Latehar (41), East Singhbhum and Jamtara (39 each), Ranchi (36), Saraikela-Kharsawan and Garhwa (34 each), Gumla (27), Bokaro (24), Simdega (21), Hazaribagh (15), Khunti (12), Lohardaga (11) and Ramgarh (4).

Radha Krishna Kishore and senior officials of the School Education and Literacy Department were also present at the appointment ceremony.
