Ranchi: Two unidentified men allegedly hurled petrol bombs at a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur area late Tuesday night. The attack, however, failed to cause any damage as both crude explosives fell short of the office premises. No injuries were reported.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest those responsible.
According to the preliminary probe, the suspects arrived near the RSS office on a two-wheeler and threw two petrol bombs made from glass chilli sauce bottles filled with petrol. One bomb landed near the boundary wall, while the other also failed to reach the building, preventing any damage to the office or nearby property.
Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said police and forensic teams reached the spot soon after the incident was reported. Evidence has been collected, and investigators are examining CCTV footage and other technical inputs.
“So far, the investigation indicates the involvement of two youths. CCTV footage shows them attempting to throw petrol bombs at the RSS office. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused,” Rana said.
During the investigation, police also learned of a possible local dispute involving the RSS office and a nearby hotel. However, officials clarified that no connection has been established yet, and all possible angles are being examined.
Following the incident, several BJP leaders and party workers visited the RSS office. BJP Legislature Party leader Babulal Marandi condemned the attack, expressing concern over the state’s law-and-order situation.
BJP leaders demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for stringent action against them. Police officials said the investigation is progressing, expressing confidence that the accused would be identified and brought to justice soon.
Further investigation is underway.
