Mumbai: Actress Jyotika, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming streaming film ‘System’, has opened up about her experience of working with filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.
Speaking to IANS during the film’s promotions in Mumbai alongside co-star Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika said she felt a strong sense of comfort while working with a female director.
She said, “There was a great level of comfort. And I will definitely say, it’s more comfortable working with a female director, very proudly and boldly. We could share a lot of things with her. She saw us the way we wanted to be seen on screen.”
The actress added that Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari handled the characters with dignity and restraint, even in scenes where a more commercial treatment could have been used. According to Jyotika, the filmmaker ensured that both actresses were portrayed respectfully on screen, which made the working environment more comfortable and secure.
Talking about her role in the film, Jyotika revealed that she plays a stenographer and many of her typing scenes were shot with the keyboard kept out of frame. She explained that the focus during those sequences was more on performance and emotions rather than actual typing accuracy.
She also shared that no extensive preparation was needed for the role, apart from working on typing speed, eye movement and multitasking during emotional scenes. “Beyond that, it was more about the emotion,” she said.
Produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja and Smitha Baliga, ‘System’ is scheduled to release on May 22 on Prime Video.
