Congress Slams Centre Over Inflation, Job Crisis and Caste Census Row

Leaders also raise concerns over SIR process and alleged irregularities in NEET examination

Deoghar: Congress leaders on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Central Government during a press conference held at the Deoghar District Congress office, raising issues related to inflation, unemployment, caste census, the SIR process and the NEET paper leak controversy.

Addressing the media, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pradeep Yadav and Deoghar District Congress Committee President Rajendra Das alleged that rising prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and essential commodities have severely affected common people, farmers, labourers and middle-class families. They claimed that instead of addressing public concerns, the Central Government is more focused on publicity campaigns.

Pradeep Yadav said both inflation and unemployment have reached worrying levels across the country. He pointed out that the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, edible oil and other everyday essentials continue to rise, putting additional financial pressure on poor and middle-class households. He also stated that young people are struggling due to a lack of employment opportunities.

The Congress leaders also spoke at length on the caste census issue, alleging that the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community is not receiving adequate representation and is being ignored systematically. They said the Congress party has consistently supported social justice and equal participation for all sections of society. The leaders warned that if a separate column for OBC castes is not included in the caste census, the party would launch a nationwide agitation.

Concerns were also raised over the SIR process, with Congress leaders alleging that voters’ rights are being impacted. They claimed that complaints related to deletion of names from voter lists and harassment of voters are emerging from different places, which could weaken the democratic system.

The leaders further targeted the government over the NEET paper leak controversy, saying students across the country have taken to the streets in protest. They alleged that irregularities in the examination process have jeopardized the future of lakhs of students.

Several senior Congress leaders and workers were present during the press conference, including Pradesh General Secretary Ashok Verma, Pradesh Secretary Nageshwar Singh, Ravindra Nath Mishra, Dineshanand Jha, Amrendra Kumar Sona, office in-charge Ganesh Das, media chairman Brijbhushan Ram and others.
