Ranchi: Protesting against the steady increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices and rising inflation, the Ranchi district committee of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) organized a day-long dharna in the state capital on Thursday. Party leaders and workers gathered in large numbers, carrying gas cylinders and placards while staging a protest against the Central government.
Speaking at the protest site, JMM leaders accused the government of putting additional financial pressure on citizens by repeatedly hiking cooking gas prices. They said inflation was hitting poor and middle-class families the hardest, making it increasingly difficult for households to manage their monthly budgets.
Women protesters participated with empty gas cylinders, saying the continuous price rise had made running a household extremely challenging. The leaders also criticized the government over rising prices of petrol, diesel, food products, and other essentials, claiming that the common man was suffering because of unchecked inflation.
The party stated that the government had promised relief from inflation during elections but had failed to deliver on those assurances. JMM leaders warned that if immediate steps were not taken to reduce LPG prices and control inflation, the party would launch a stronger movement both on the streets and inside the Assembly.
Protesters raised slogans demanding a reduction in prices and accused the government of ignoring public hardship. Leaders at the gathering said inflation had weakened the economic condition of ordinary citizens and people were now seeking answers from the government.
