House listing survey to begin May 16; residents encouraged to use self-enumeration facility
Deoghar: The district administration has completed all preparations for the first phase of Census 2027, Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh announced during a press briefing held on Wednesday at the Information Building auditorium.
Highlighting key changes, the DC said this year’s census will be conducted entirely through a digital, paperless system, aimed at making the process more transparent, efficient, and user-friendly.
He informed that the first phase — covering house listing and housing census — will run from May 16 to June 14, 2026. The second phase, focused on population enumeration, is scheduled between February 9 and February 28, 2027.
During the initial phase, officials will collect data across 33 parameters, including housing conditions, access to essential services like drinking water, electricity, and toilets, along with property-related details. The DC clarified that no caste-related information or personal documents will be sought, as the exercise is strictly for statistical purposes.
Appealing for public cooperation, he emphasized that the census plays a crucial role in national planning and development. Citizens have been urged to provide accurate information and take advantage of the self-enumeration option.
For smooth execution, the district has deployed 11 additional charge officers, 3,577 HLB personnel, 2,312 enumerators, and 383 supervisors, with all logistical arrangements already in place.
Self-Enumeration Open from May 1 to 15
To simplify participation, residents can opt for self-enumeration between May 1 and May 15, 2026. Using their mobile numbers, citizens can log into the official census portal and submit household details independently, avoiding the need to wait for field staff.
Upon completion, each household will receive a unique SE ID via SMS. From May 16 onwards, enumerators equipped with mobile applications will visit homes for verification. Those who have already filled in their details online will only need to provide their SE ID for confirmation.
The briefing also saw inputs from the government-appointed nodal officer Chaurasia and the Municipal Commissioner, who elaborated on various aspects of the census process.
Senior officials present at the event included Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sinha, Additional Collector Hira Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, and representatives from multiple district departments.
