Youth Held with Illegal Firearm Near School, Two Suppliers Nabbed in Deoghar

Country-made pistol recovered during special anti-crime drive

Deoghar: In a significant crackdown under a special anti-crime operation led by SP Praveen Pushkar, town police arrested a youth carrying an illegal firearm near a school and later apprehended two alleged arms suppliers based on his disclosure.

The incident occurred near a school at Tower Chowk under the Town Police Station limits. Police teams, engaged in routine patrolling and search operations, grew suspicious after spotting a youth trying to hide on seeing them. Acting swiftly, the officers chased and detained him.

A subsequent search led to the recovery of a country-made pistol from his backpack. The accused was identified as Shahil Srivastava (22), son of Manoj Kumar, a resident of the water tank area in Deoghar.

During interrogation, Shahil revealed the names of two individuals who had allegedly supplied him with the weapon. Acting on this input, police arrested Vijay Chauhan alias Vijay Gupta (24) and Gaurav Kumar Jha alias Monty (23).

Vijay Chauhan, son of Shekhar Prasad Sah alias Shekhar Chauhan, is a resident near Sunrise School in Hathi Pahad under Kunda police station area. Gaurav Jha, son of Niranjan Jha, lives near Karnkol More, also under Kunda police station limits.

Police recovered one country-made pistol and a mobile phone from Shahil. All three accused were later produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Town Police Station In-charge Rajiv Kumar, with the support of officers Mukesh Kumar Tiwari, Sumant Prasad, Mukesh Kumar, Shankar Rajak, and armed police personnel.
