Deoghar Housing Scheme Beneficiaries Protest Delay, Submit Memorandum to Civic Body

Deoghar: Beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Urban Housing Scheme in Deoghar have voiced strong dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay in the allotment of flats, alleging repeated postponements by the Deoghar Municipal Corporation on technical grounds. Despite multiple meetings and assurances from officials, the issue remains unresolved.

According to the beneficiaries, many have been waiting for nearly eight years to receive possession of their homes, despite making regular payments. In protest, a delegation from the beneficiaries’ committee met Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Municipal Commissioner, demanding immediate action.

The memorandum highlighted that a notice issued on January 31, 2025, had promised handover of flats by April 2025, but the commitment has not been fulfilled. Although 48 flats in the F Block were reportedly completed on January 17, 2026, they are yet to be allotted to the beneficiaries.

Frustrated residents said that despite clearing their dues, they continue to live without permanent housing, facing increasing hardship. They warned that if possession is not granted by May 3, 2026, they may take matters into their own hands and move into the allotted flats, holding the Municipal Corporation and JUIDCO responsible for any consequences.

Responding to the concerns, Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut assured the delegation that their grievances would be addressed and that efforts would be made to resolve the issue at the earliest, ensuring fair treatment for all beneficiaries.
