HC to hear plea on exclusion of eligible candidates in teacher recruitment result

Ranchi: The revised result for Class 1 to 5 teacher recruitment issued by Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission on September 7 has come under judicial scrutiny after the High Court agreed to hear a petition challenging the outcome. A significant number of candidates who were selected in the earlier result announced on August 12 have now been left out.

The petitioner, Sudama Kumar, represented by advocate Chanchal Jain, approached the court alleging that the commission used the Supreme Court order in Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Others v. Pradeep Kumar & Others to exclude him from the updated result.

Sudama Kumar argued that he did not seek any relaxation in JTET eligibility and scored over 60%. He also claimed to have more marks than the last selected candidate in the BC-II reserved category. Despite this, he was neither placed in the reserved nor unreserved category and was excluded from the list.

The petition contended that the Supreme Court order does not apply to candidates securing above 60%, making the commission’s action unjust and arbitrary. The High Court’s intervention is likely to impact how eligibility and selection are treated in this recruitment process.
