Ranchi: Jharkhand Police is actively searching for 22,555 absconders against whom permanent warrants have been issued but are yet to be executed. These pending cases are spread across various districts of the state, indicating that thousands of accused individuals remain beyond the reach of law enforcement. In addition to the outstanding warrants, there are also 3,661 pending cases of property attachment (confiscation) across the state.
Dhanbad tops the list with 5,339 cases, making it the district with the highest number of pending permanent warrants. Meanwhile, when it comes to general (non-permanent) warrants, a staggering 48,952 cases remain unresolved across Jharkhand.
Other districts with a significant backlog of permanent warrant cases include Ranchi with 2,918, Gumla with 1,519, Palamu with 1,876, and East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) with 1,491. Several other districts, including Chaibasa, Deoghar, and Sahibganj, also have more than 1,000 pending cases each. Even the rail divisions of Dhanbad and Jamshedpur account for 8 and 49 cases respectively.
The data highlights a serious challenge for law enforcement agencies in apprehending long-time absconders and enforcing judicial orders across the state.
