22-Year-Old Youth Shot Dead in Deoghar, Police Investigate Land Dispute Angle

Deoghar — Tension gripped Jharkhand’s Deoghar city after a 22-year-old youth, Dinesh Kumar Singh, was shot dead by unknown assailants on Wednesday night.

Dinesh, a college student with no criminal background, had gone to purchase essential medicines when he was ambushed near the Kunda turn on his way back home.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing gunshots and found Dinesh severely injured, lying by the roadside. He was immediately taken to Deoghar Sadar Hospital but could not survive. Doctors confirmed that he had sustained four bullet injuries — two in the chest, one in the stomach, and one on his hand.

In her statement, Dinesh’s sister, Kiran Kumari, informed the police that her brother, before losing consciousness, named Raja Turi and Kanhaiya Singh from their village as the culprits. She also revealed that the two had issued threats to Dinesh over a land dispute about a month ago.

Police suspect personal enmity behind the murder and have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused. Several raids are being conducted at possible hideouts.

The body has been handed over to the family following a post-mortem. The incident has spread fear and unrest in Padampur village and surrounding areas.
