1932 Khatian-based local policy bill passed from Jharkhand Assembly, to be sent again to the Governor

Ranchi: Khatian-based local policy 1932 was passed from the House on the fourth day of the winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly.

In the special session of the Assembly on 11 November 2022, the government had passed the ‘Jharkhand Local Persons Act to extend the definition of local persons and consequential social, cultural and other benefits to such local persons, 2022’ by passing it in the House and sending it to the Governor.

Raj Bhavan had returned it to the government with suggestions for amendments on some points. The government has passed it again in the House on Wednesday in its original form without any amendments. CM Hemant Soren has said that this policy has nothing to do with the arguments given by the Governor and the Attorney General. This bill has been made only after the opinion of the Advocate General, hence there is no need for amendment in it.

On Wednesday, the fourth day of the winter session, after lunch break, Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato led a discussion on the Khatian of 1932. Chief Minister Hemant Soren was the first to participate in the discussion. On behalf of BJP, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, Neelkanth Singh Munda, Samrilal, JMM’s Sudivya Sonu participated. But the surprising thing was that Babulal Marandi was not even allowed to speak. Due to which Babulal Marandi, seeing himself being humiliated, thought it wise to leave the House and without saying anything he left the House.

While coming out of the House, lines of humiliation were clearly visible on his face. Coming out and talking to the media, Babulal Marandi said that he is very sad at heart today. Feeling victimized. Even if they do not give me time from the party side. I am not worried about it. But as an MLA he could have given.

On Wednesday, other three bills “Pragyan International University (Repeal) Bill 2023”, “Jharkhand Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services (Amendment) Bill, 2023”, “Shine National University Bill 2023” were passed from the House.
