153 new patients found on Sunday as Coronavirus tally reaches to 5,552; a death reported from Hazaribagh

Ranchi: On Sunday patients of Coronavirus were found across 16 districts of Jharkhand as a total of 153 cases were found with which the overall tally has now increased to 5,552

During the day 1 death was also reported in the state from Dhanbad district after which the overall death count has gone up to 49 in the state.

As per the data provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 2,785 while the number of cured and discharged cases stood at 2,718. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 49.

During the day a maximum number of 32 cases were reported in Ranchi district followed by 26 in Hazaribagh district. 25 each in East Singhbhum and Lohardaga, 10 cases in Dhanbad, 6 cases in Gumla, 5 each in Koderma and Sahebganj and 4 each in Deoghar and Giridih were found during the day.

On Sunday 62 people were cured and discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities in the state including 22 from Ranchi, 9 from Godda, 7 from Deoghar, 6 each from East Singhbhum and Pakur districts also defeated Coronavirus and returned back to their homes.

The samples are being currently tested in the state at government facilities including  MGM Jamshedpur, RIMS Ranchi, PMCH Dhanbad and Itki Arogyashala Ranchi while samples are also being tested in different private labs in the state.

Jharkhand had reported its first Coronavirus case on March 31 as a Malaysian woman had tested positive for Covid-19. It had taken 67 days to reach the 1,000 mark as far as overall Covid-19 patients are concerned in Jharkhand however the spread of infection has now reached to such alarming proportions that with the number of cases crossing the 5,000 mark 50 percent of them have been recorded in the month of July itself. The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted further to 48.95 percent in the state.

So far in the state 2,30,429 samples have been collected out of which 2,15,661 have been tested and 2,10,109 have turned out to be negative.

The data further pointed out that the number of travellers under surveillance and asymptomatic was at 5,595 while people who have completed 28 days of compulsory observation stood at 4,306. The number of people in facility quarantine was at 7,869 while that in-home quarantine was 2,72,932.
