100 people detained and released on bail for not wearing mask in Jharkhand

Ranchi (IANS):More than 100 people were detained and kept in temporary camp jail for five hours and later released on bail in steel city Jamshedpur on Wednesday.

According to Police, more than 100people were detained on Wednesday morning when they went outside home for morning walk without wearing face mask to protect themselves from pandemic Coronavurus. They were kept in temporary camp jail and later they were released on bail.

The officials of Police and district administration launch a special drive on Wednesday to caught the people not wearing the face mask. Face mask is essential in Unlock 2 in Jharkhand.

“ A special drive was launched in Bistupur, Kadma, Sonari police stations of Jamshedpur on Wednesday. More than 100 people were detained who either not wearing face or or not following the social distancing. Those who will violate the law will be punished” said Subhash Chandra Jat, city SP of Jamshedpur to reporters.

The Coronavirus cases have crossed 4000 mark in the state and total 39 deaths have been reported,. In July alone more than 22 deaths have been reported. On Tuesday more than 250 cases were reported and 59 was in Ranchi.

Tuesday created a new record as far as detection of Coronavirus patients was concerned in the state as on a single day a total of 247 patients spread across 23 out of 24 districts of Jharkhand tested positive for Covid-19 after which the overall tally has now reached 4,225.

As per the data provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 1,761 while number of cured and discharged cases stood at 2,428. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 36.

Out of the total 4,225 cases which have been detected 2,245 have been brought by migrant workers coming from the various Coronavirus hotspots in the country including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Tamilnadu.
