Cabinet nod to exempt Social Impact assessment for important social and Economic projects

Ranchi, Aug 5: The Jharkhand Government gave its approval to the Jharkhand Amendment Act 2017 which is related to the rights of compensation and transparency under the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Settlement Act 203.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das at the project building here. An official press release issued after the meeting said that under the proposal that for important social and economic projects and facilities related to the welfare of the people including construction of school, colleges universities, hospitals, panchayat buildings, anganwadi kendras, water ways, electrification and irrigation and drinking water pipeline  would  remain free from chapter 2 of the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Settlement Act 2013.

However in Jharkhand listed areas the PESA law would continue to remain. The cabinet also approved a decision to hike the contractual allowances paid to former soldiers who have been appointed on contractual basis as warders in the district from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000. The cabinet also gave its nod to couple of legislations related to the Industries and Minning and Rural Development Departments.
