NDA and UPA hold meets prior to the President’s Poll

Ranchi, Jul 16: A meeting of the NDA legislators was held at the residence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das here in wake of the President’s Polls voting for which is scheduled on Monday.

During the meeting the MLAs were detailed about the voting process and were also apprised about the election process in details. The voting for the polls would be held at the Vidhan Sabha premises where a polling booth has been erected.

 

In wake of the polls security arrangements have been strengthened at the Vidhan Sabha premises with additional police forces being deployed and CCTVs installed to keep an eye on the activities. The MLAs would be able to cast their votes from 10 am to 5 pm.

 

The MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would be able to cast their votes along with the MLAs. The NDA has a total of 47 MLAs while its MPs are 12. The value of one vote of the MLA is 176 while that of the MP is 708.

 

In the meeting of the NDA it was decided that all the MLAs would be casting their votes in the first half of the day. NDA candidate Ramnath Kovind has also got the support of Geeta Koda and Bhau Pratap Sahi (both independents).

 

On the other hand the UPA too held a meeting at the residence of leader of the opposition and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren to work out the strategies for the polls. The UPA which includes the JMM and the Congress has also got the backing of JVM(P) of Babulal Marandi while lobe CPI (ML) legislator Rajkumar Yadav too would be voting for UPA nominee Meira Kumar.
