Municipal polls in Jharkhand on Monday

Ranchi, Apr 15: Polling for the municipal bodies in the state which is for the first time being held on party lines would be held on Monday during which eligible voters would be able to cast their votes from 7am to 5pm.

 

The polling parties alongwith EVMs, and security personnel have been dispatched to the respective polling booths.

 

The polls would be held for 34 civic bodies while by-polls would be also held on four others. A total of 22,12,137 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the polls which included 10,39,496 women voters. The polls would be held for electing the mayor and deputy mayor of five municipal corporation and chairman and vice chairman of 16 nagar parishads and 13 nagar panchayats.

 

Meanwhile addressing the press in Ranchi DC cum district electoral officer Rai Mahimpat Rey said that that to increase the vote per centage the district administration would also be giving letter of appreciation while first male and female voters at all polling stations would also be felicitated. He said that all necessary preparations have been completed for the polls.

 

He said that for Ranchi Municpal Corporation a total of 808 polling booths have been formed out of which 336 are very sensitive and 281 are sensitive while 191 are general category booths. He said that while for Bundu Nagar Panchayat 16 polling stations have been formed out of which seven have been declared sensitive. He said that elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polls and strict action would be taken against those who would try to create disturbance.
