Yogendra Sao along with wife Nirmala Devi awarded 6 months of punishment

Ranchi: A local court on Saturday in Ranchi awarded a punishment of six months to former Minister Yogendra Sao and his wife Nirmala Devi in a case related to ‘Kafaan Satyagrah’ of Hazaribagh.

Apart from the couple, the court has also awarded imprisonment to seven others in the case. Moreover, a fine of Rs 5,000 each has been also imposed on the couple by the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Vishal Srivastav.

Prior to that in connection with Barkagaon Firing Incident, the court had awarded the couple 10 years of imprisonment. Protesting against the land acquisition by NTPC in Barkagaon the leaders had organized an agitation that was named as Kafaan Satyagrah.

In the same agitation, a firing incident had taken place after which a fir was registered in the case. More than two dozen cases were registered against Yogendra Sao in connection with the incidents which took place in Barkagaon out of which in 11 of them he has been acquitted while in two he has been awarded punishment.
