Work towards making children malnutrition free: Secretary

Ranchi: Secretary of the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department Kripa Nand Jha said that children are the future of the family, state and country therefore saving the children from malnutrition is the priority
of the state government.

Chairing a meeting of the State Monitoring and Implementation Committee at Project Bhawan he said that the department is working with full readiness, awareness and commitment to save children from malnutrition. The state has to work towards making malnutrition free at all costs and provide quality nutritious food to children in Anganwadi centers of the state he said.

The Secretary directed the officials to implement with commitment all the schemes run by the department for the physical and mental development of the children and asked them to identify malnourished children and women suffering from anemia in the state by conducting a survey and health workers prepare data by conducting their medical checkup.

He said that even after 22 years of formation of Jharkhand state, Jharkhand is surrounded by a big disaster of malnutrition. According to the latest National Family Health Survey 5, most of the children of Jharkhand are suffering from malnutrition. Anemia affects 69 percent of children and 65 percent of women.

Efforts have been started by the government to improve the health of mothers, children and adolescent girls of the state with a grand campaign against malnutrition and anemia. ‘Samar Abhiyan’ The aim of this campaign is to identify children and women suffering from severe malnutrition and anemia and treat them. As well as providing adequate and nutritious food.
