Will Lalu Yadav freedom be clipped as JMM is unhappy with RJD

Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is unhappy with ally RJD as later has denied any seat to previous in the Bihar assembly poll.

The failure of the seat-sharing formula in the Bihar assembly poll may impact on freedom of RJD president Lalu Yadav who is enjoying special privileges in Kelly’s residence designated for the director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Ranchi.

Lalu Yadav convicted in four fodder scam cases was staying at the paying ward of RIMS instead of Birsa Munda central on health and treatment reason. He was shifted to RIMS director bungalow due to Coronavirus fear. Lalu Yadav is staying in RIMS for more than two years. When he was shifted to Kelly’s residence the BJP had raised questions over. It was also alleged that Lalu Yadav played an important role in ticket distribution from the residence of the RIMS director.

A large number of RJD leaders were loitering and meeting Lalu Yadav to get tickets. JMM has accused RJD of political treachery.

“RJD has forgotten political decorum. RJD was given seats in grand alliance during Lok Sabha and assembly poll. RJD was given seats more than it’s strength in the Jharkhand assembly poll. RJD had zero seats in the 2014 assembly poll. Despite zero seats, it was given more seats in the Jharkhand assembly poll in 2019. RJD however won only one seat in the 2019 assembly poll” said JMM general secretary and spokesperson  Supriyo Bhattacharya to reporters.

When asked about Lalu Yadav’s stay in the RIMS director bungalow he said “ it is jail administration which decides. We have no role in it”.

JMM had demanded 12 seats from RJD in the Bihar Assembly Elections. JMM has announced to go alone and fight on Jhajha, Chakai, Katoria, Dhamdah, Manihari, Nathnagar and Pirpainti seats. He said that doors for any kind of talks have now been shut.

The fallout is likely to have its impact over the grand alliance comprising the JMM, Congress and RJD in the state. Earlier it was said that RJD would give few seats to the JMM from its own quota. IN 2019 assembly poll, JMM, Congress and RJD had won 30, 26 and one seats respectively.

JMM executive president and Chief Minister Hemant Soren had met jailed RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav at the Kely Bungalow of RIMS Ranchi demanding 12 seats in the Bihar assembly poll.

JMM was planning to fight on reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) seats which share their borders with Jharkhand. The 12 seats which the party had initially demanded included Tarapur, Katoria, Manihari, Jhajha, Banka, Thakurganj, Rupauli, Rampur, Banmankhi, Jamalpur, Pirpainti and Chakai.

RJD had won only one seat and it was given a place in Hemant Soren cabinet.
