Ranchi- As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 12 years in office on Tuesday, beneficiaries of several flagship Central government schemes in Jharkhand spoke about how these initiatives have transformed their daily lives by improving housing, irrigation, and financial stability.
Since assuming office on May 26, 2014, PM Modi has focused on welfare delivery with a “Citizen First” approach, aiming to ensure that essential services and government support reach economically weaker sections across the country.
In Gumla district, beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana said the housing scheme has brought a sense of security and dignity to poor families.
Meena Devi, one of the beneficiaries, recalled how her family earlier lived in a mud-tiled house that leaked badly during the monsoon season.
“Rainwater used to seep in from every side, and we lived in constant fear during heavy rains. After getting a pucca house under the government scheme, we finally feel secure,” she said while expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister.
Another resident, Anita Devi, said her family had struggled for years under an asbestos roof that regularly leaked during rains.
“Now we have a proper home where we can live peacefully without worrying about the weather damaging the house,” she said.
Locals in the district said the government’s promise of ensuring housing for every poor family is gradually becoming a reality in their villages.
In Jamtara district, farmers benefiting from the PM KUSUM Yojana highlighted how solar-powered irrigation has reduced farming costs and improved income.
Farmer Damodar Singh said the solar pump received under the scheme freed him from dependence on expensive diesel and irregular electricity supply.
“Earlier, I spent around Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 every month on diesel for irrigation. Now irrigation is practically free, and I no longer worry about fuel or electricity bills,” he said.
Beneficiaries across rural Jharkhand say that schemes related to housing, clean energy, and farming support have significantly improved their standard of living over the past decade and brought visible changes to village life.
