Ranchi: The “vote chor, gaddi chhor” signature campaign, launched under the call of All India Congress Committee, concluded in Jharkhand with historic success. Led by Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, the campaign received nearly 2.5 million signature forms from all districts across the state, with a few more forms expected from remaining districts by tomorrow. The campaign has emerged as a powerful mass movement.
Expressing gratitude to Congress workers, office-bearers, organizational units, and supporters, state Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh said the campaign symbolized the protection of democracy and voting rights. He praised the unity and dedication of Jharkhand Congress members, noting it strengthened public trust and demonstrated collective determination to safeguard democratic values.
Kamlesh highlighted recent revelations by Rahul Gandhi exposing a planned conspiracy of voter manipulation. According to him, organized efforts have targeted the removal of Dalit, Adivasi, and backward class voters from electoral rolls, striking at the core of equality and democratic principles. He emphasized that the affected groups have historically raised their voices against power structures.
The campaign, which ran from September 15 to October 25, reached every village and panchayat across Jharkhand. Public awareness drives explained alleged manipulation in voter lists and raised questions about the role of the Election Commission in these activities. Kamlesh warned that the foundation of India’s democracy, based on the power of the vote, is under threat, and deliberate disenfranchisement of marginalized communities constitutes theft of public voice and rights.
He also criticized the BJP and Election Commission for remaining silent amid disclosures in Mahadevpura and Karnataka’s Aland, which have left the public wary of fair electoral processes. Kamlesh accused ruling party leaders of making evasive statements to hide the truth when confronted by Congress.
The campaign saw active participation from a wide range of Congress leaders, including Pradeep Yadav, Shilpi Neha Tirki, Bandhu Tirki, Nishat Alam, Bhushan Bada, district presidents Satish Kedia, Chandeshwar Gop, Barkat Khan, Yahia Siddiqui, Deepika Besra, Somnath Munda, Prakash Rajak, Kameshwar Yadav, women’s Congress president Gunjan Singh, and Prince Singh, alongside hundreds of grassroots workers who helped submit the signature forms.
