Uorfi Javed Dismisses Claims of Being Expelled from Islam, Says She Left the Religion Long Ago

Mumbai: Actress and social media personality Uorfi Javed has strongly reacted to circulating claims about her religion and identity, clarifying that she does not follow any religion and identifies as an atheist.

Her response came after social media influencer Faizan Ansari alleged that Muslims had decided to expel Uorfi Javed from Islam and rename her Geeta Bhardwaj. Rejecting these claims in an exclusive interaction with IANS, Uorfi termed the reports baseless.

“I myself left the religion long ago. Who is making these things up now?” she said.

Responding to reports about her alleged name change, Uorfi added, “Who said this? There is no such report. They are making it up on their own. I don’t follow any religion. I am an atheist. So where will you get me out of? How would you get somebody out of a place they don’t exist in the first place?”

Earlier in the day, Faizan Ansari shared a video on social media claiming that Uorfi had been “expelled” from Islam and would now be called Geeta Bhardwaj. In the video, he alleged that a decision had been taken by “Muslims” to disassociate her from the community, accusing her of repeatedly insulting Islam.

Ansari claimed that he had informed a Maulana and announced the decision publicly, stating that Uorfi no longer had any association with the Muslim community. He also said he would circulate the announcement widely on social media.

Uorfi, however, categorically denied the claims and reiterated that she does not belong to any religion, calling the allegations fabricated and misleading.
